Digi Business and AVANA help B40 businesses get tech smart

2021 My Digital SME series supported local MSMEs in need with a series of virtual workshops, and comprehensive social e-commerce solutions

SUBANG JAYA, 26 August 2021 – Digi Business and AVANA have doubled down once again on their shared commitment to support B40 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) digitalisation with the recent 2021 My Digital SME virtual series. It is aimed at providing local MSMEs owners with the necessary knowledge and tools that they can adopt to help them sustain their businesses during these challenging times.

Hosted on Digi’s Facebook page, participants went through a series of live workshops. They also got the opportunity to engage with industry experts as well as their peers who had successfully kept their businesses running by going digital. Topics discussed during the workshops included tips on optimising online tools and creating a strong social media presence, how to assimilate their businesses to e-commerce models as well as methods on keeping the digital momentum going to strengthen their future operations.

“As the movement restrictions continue to force MSMEs to run their businesses remotely, the need to have reliable connectivity and smart technologies has never been more important. Hence, our decision to continue to roll out relevant programmes similar to 2021 My Digital SME virtual series with partners like AVANA. The programme has been designed to fit the needs of the MSMEs who may not have the time to spare but need to quickly learn and understand how to take advantage of these digital tools to stay productive while staying cost efficient,” says Eugene Teh, Digi’s Chief Business Officer.

Digi Business and AVANA are also consciously making the decision to reach out and help as many people as possible including those beyond businesses such as Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). Recently, Digi Business and Avana have helped to digitalise the operations of The Serum Initiative, an organisation founded to provide hygiene kits to marginalised communities amidst the pandemic with mobile plans and devices including a suite of social media marketing tools.

Yien Yee, AVANA’s Group COO believes that while the pandemic has amplified the digital divide in the country, initiatives such as these are essential to protect the livelihoods of local entrepreneurs. “Despite digitalisation becoming a necessity, there are still businesses out there who do not have the means to access it. Through this partnership with Digi Business, we are bridging this gap by introducing accessible digital solutions, so SMEs maintain a competitive edge and are able to thrive long after the pandemic ends.”

Besides working together for My Digital SME, AVANA’s e-commerce offerings are an essential part of Digi Business’ special GoDigital bundles, an all-inclusive digital transformation package that Digi offers to their SME customers. The package provides SMEs connectivity through the add-on Go Digi plans (Digi’s mobile and broadband plan designed for businesses), gives access to productivity tools such as altHR and Omni, and an avenue to benefit from the PENJANA SME Digitalisation grant.
